Tried restoring which was working for awhile. Now am getting the dreaded clicking noise as ipod tries to reboot unsuccessfully. Ipod will not start up. Stays on apple screen. Replaced battery last year (purchased battery & tools from you-with no problem.) Didn’t fix. Battery is new. Charges off of wall but will not charge or run by itself. Have tried multiple cords for charging and or hooking to itunes on computer and none work. Just wall charger. A few drops of perspiration (during a workout) dropped on the iPod around the wheel. It worked fine for a period of time afterwards (several weeks) but suddenly one day it stopped. The following are the issues: 1. The iPod will only turn on if connected to a charger or a docking station with built in charging mechanism 2. The iPod will not turn on when connected via USB to computer nor will it sync. Hi there My iPod scroll wheel hasn’t been working so I purchased a new one which I will include with the iPod. It’s a little too daunting of a task for me to want to install it and I also wanted the unit checked out thoroughly in case of other problems. The iPod was dropped and the case was separated and the wiring (yellow or orange ribbon looking wire) was disconnected. I think it’s the wiring that goes to/from the battery and the wiring that goes to/from the headphones-there are 3 disconnections total-if you open the iPod you can obviously see the damage. The audio cuts in & out so there is a short somewhere inside. Everything works besides that. I would also like a quote on a new screen because this one is scratched up. Will not charge, makes buzzing sound when plugged in. Temporarily displayed the message, “Battery Very Low”. I ordered a replacement battery from Milliamp a year or so ago. Installed just fine in this unit. This did not solve the problem… The unit would only play once in a while and then not at all. ? Has a lot of music on it that is important to my wife…getting the music is the most important thing…hopefully it can be brought back to life! There seem to be two problems with this iPod. One is that the headphone jack isn’t working properly. I can only get one ear to work. I tried opening it up on my own to figure out how to fix it and I couldn’t. Also a small part came loose and it’s included in the iPod with the ziploc bag. The second thing is that the pod seems a bit loose in the case. I don’t know if this is to be expected or not. This is definitely a secondary concern. The headphone jack is the main issue I’m concerned about. Also, while you’re in there, can you check the effectiveness of the battery. I’ve had it in for a few years, so I’m wondering how it is doing.
I attempted to replace the battery myself . . turned out to be a big mistake. I accidentally pulled the connection to the battery ribbon cable out too far and it disengaged. The pins were so small that when I tried to reinsert the connector I think I broke some pins off. To compound my error I took the unit to a local iPhone/iPod repair shop who tried to repair it but were unsuccessful. I haven’t opened the unit since so I have no idea what additional damage they might have done. And that new battery had better still be in there! I attempted to replace the battery myself . .turned out to be a big mistake. I pulled the connector to the battery ribbon cable out too far and it disengaged. I tried to reinsert it but the pins were so small I think I broke some off. To make matters worse I took it to a local iPhone repair shop who attemped to fix it – they were unsuccessful. I have not opned the unit since and I have no idea what if any additional damage they might have done. And that new battery had better stil be in there! Not holding a charge for very long. The Ipod does not turn on. It had a low battery message but didn’t seem to take a charge. Phone order CM…. screen stuck in MENU. customer took to APPLE they did a restore but it didn’t work. sounds like it’s probably scrollwheel.
This unit has not had problems, then while plugged in to my PC to sync the display became distorted. When I unplugged it and turned it off/on, the display was blank, sometimes you could see the horizontal lines that make up the display. Then if you manipulated the controls on the wheel it would change screens to a blank white page that was smoother/higher res, and it seemed like there were some tiny characters or portions of characters at the top of the screen. The reset process did not work and all other troubleshooting as recommended by Apple did not have any effect. It did seem like the hard drive was working and even though the screen was blank, the ipod seemed to be syncing with itunes. The Ipod does not turn on. Even if you plug it into the wall charger it will not light up the screen. It stays off like if it has not been plugged to the charger. I have used different charges that I know are working and it still wont charge. This is an 80GB iPod, Model # a1136. We had ordered a new battery from you guys awhile back and I replaced that but it still will not work. It might be a goner. The hard drive could have a problem. Please let me know if you guys can fix it. The battery is new and it came in a kit from you guys. It has always worked fine until this little episode of not taking a charge and not turning on. When the Ipod is plugged into any computer it stall that machine at first. Itunes does not recognize the device. it askes to Restore it but then after the restore it does the same thing. The connected symbol appears on the ipod display but never goes away. This device worked fine two days ago and only did this after it stopped working on a portable device. It seems to have locked up. The prongs for the socket that the battery cable plugs into are not aligned properly. The socket needs replaced too.
The main issue is the Apple unhappy face. Have tried chargings, reboots…. It takes forever to come alive and then you can’t do much with it. The small impact dent on the back corner has been there a long time; long before it started acting up (like years). No water exposure that I recall. I haven’t notice that the battery capacity is greatly reduced; can you tell what it is compared to new? 1.Player has intermittent sound from both earbuds (I have used different earbuds to confirm the problem). 2. Clickwheel does not always engage so that nothing happens (no increase in volume etc.) when I try to use it. Thanks in advance! Looking forward to refreshing my 30 GB ipod. Shipment address is the Hallmark Inn Hotel. The battery on my iPod classic 160Gb has not been taking in a charge for a few days and now has stopped working I have connected the iPod to an AC power source using the USB cable. It continuously says Charging please wait . I have tried restarting it no luck! It does not even power on or function properly when connected to the power source. It still says Charging please wait. Unit will only scroll through current play list. Will not respond to begin song, or go back to previous menu. The wheel and center button stopped working a few days ago. Initially the center button worked even though the play stop etc functions didn’t — but eventually the button stopped responding too. The volume feature on the wheel does seem to still work a little but it appears to be jerky — i’m fairly sure that this problem is connected to everything else. My Ipod hasn’t been dropped in over a year and I don’t believe that it has been exposed to anything like heat cold water or magnetism. I think that the button and wheel have just worn out thru constant use. THE PLAY/PAUSE (ON THE BOTTOM) ON THE WHEEL DOESN’T WORK. TO PLAY IT I HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE MAIN MENU TO AUDIOBOOKS OR MUSIC OR WHATEVER THEN GO BACK FORWARD THRU THE MENU (THE TOP) AND USING THE CENTER BUTTON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG THE ERAPHONES. TO PLAY AGAIN I HAVE TO GO BACK THRU ALL THE STEPS. Menu button is faulty, works very few times, mostly no function. Next Track (arrows pointing right) has no function. Volume Scrolling is has full function.
The scroll wheel no longer does anything so can’t use the IPOD. There was nothing that happened that would have caused it to stop working. I am sending you my Ipod touch becuase my son broke off my headphones inside the jack. The tip of the headphones is stuck in the jack. I believe the jack needs replaced. Other then that it should be working great. I have forgotten the passcode on my iPod and would like it reset. My battery dies very quickly as well so I would like that replaced. It has been dropped numerous times, but I haven’t noticed any problems except for the battery. While on vacation we were using the iTouch as a camera. Unfortunately it was dropped in the ocean. When it was picked up it displayed the apple logo as if it was booting up or shutting down then went black. I allowed it to dry for 48 hours but it would not turn back on. The most important part of this device to me is the hard drive with our vacation pictures on it please do everything you can to save this information. Two weeks ago I dropped ithe phonein the toilet and retrieved it immediately. i took the SIM card out and placed it in rice for 48 hours. I then placed it in the dryer, insulated by layers of socks for 45 minutes. i charged it and it worked, sort of. There were water spots behind the screen, which do’t seem to be there now now. The phone did not then and does not now hold a charge. I put the SIM card back in, but the phone said there was no SIM card in the phone. it also said that the charger was not compatible with the phone, but it is the IPhone charger i have always used and it always worked. The phone showed all my information from the SIm card but would not let me call out or receive calls. I took the SIM card out before sending it to you, but even without the card the phone still lets me see my contacts (although I cannot contact them nor they me). Ipod classic went through the washer. Iphone probably also exposed to water. My now very clean iPod Touch went through a full cycle wash in the machine. Being a complete dummy, I tried to turn it on, then plugged it in. It went nuts calling up sites randomly on the Internet. I put it in a bowl of rice for a day and tried again. The calendar function worked. I didn’t try anything else. At very least, it needs a new battery. Audio only comes out of the left side of any pair of headphones attached to the device. ipod is otherwise fine–it syncs and plays music when it is connected to the ihome. Battery won’t hold charge. Works Okay. Needs a new battery.
The original battery is weak, goes dead quickly and needs replacing. Everything else is ok. There is one small nick on the bottom front near the cord connector and one on the top right near screen. The seal between the faceplate and the rear cover is in original shape all the way around. There are no scratches on the front anywhere and the rear has minor scuffs on it. BATTERY WILL NOT CHARGE LONG. Battery replacement and complete diagnostic just to make sure everything is working properly internally. Washed Ipod in front loader washing machine for about 15 minutes (booo) Dried it using a vacuum cleaner and rice. Ipod works fine except it won’t hold a charge. I can charge it until it shows full, but then the next morning, it is dead again. Works fine when hooked up to the treadmill at the local YMCA too. iPod Classic 120G needs new battery only. No other issues noticed. nORMAL USE, GENERALLY PLUGGED INTO A 120 vac iPOD WALL CHARGER. uNIT RUNS WHEN PLUGGED INTO THAT WALL CHARGER, BUT IMMEDIATELY SHUTS WHEN DISCONNECTED. tHE UNIT’S BATTERY APPEARS NOT TO HOLD A CHARGE. WHEN PLUGGED INTO A COMPUTER USB PORT, UNIT DOES NOT CHARGE AND IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE COMPUTER & DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. The battery run time has gotten shorter, causing the iPod to stop playing after only a few songs. I had it plugged into my car charger and the fuse in my car that powers the outlet burned out and ever since then my ipod will not hold a charge. Unit will only function when connected to a charging power source. Unit stops working shortly after disconnecting from a charging source even after being charged overnight. Highly suspect a bad battery. The battery will not hold a charge.
iPod is working great, I’m sure all it needs is a new battery. Everything is fine with the ipod the only issue is the battery and how it is unable to hold charge. When plugging in to charge only get apple icon no matter how long charge. I can let it drain until it says plug in power and then only get apple icon again. If it is something other than battery and can be fixed please let me know and cost. It was my original ipod with 160 GB og my best music some of which has not been backed up. (if you can even save data). Ive noticed the device freezing up more and more. Sometimes it will skip songs, sometimes it will just freeze and need a hard restart. I have used the device in my car with an ipod compatible sony stereo with the xplod feature. It worked great until recently when it will freeze up after 15 minutes or so. Also, when I plug the ipod into my computer and control it through itunes it will freeze as well after some time. HELLO — THIS SILVER IPOD CLASSIC WILL NOT CHARGE AND WILL NOT CONNECT TO ITUNES. WHEN CHARGING, IT HAS A WARNING ON THE SCREEN THAT INDICATES IT NEEDS TO CHARGE. THIS CONTINUES INDEFINITELY. I have to hold the earphone jack at an angle to hear in both ears. There are lines across the screen but the picture is ok. Sometimes the clickwheel works fine Sometimes the iPod is slow to react and I have to push the clickwheel again Sometimes it does not go to where Im telling it to. It might need a new battery It has had a lot of cycles Battery seems ok but please include a quote for a new battery. I dont care that it is scratched up. WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL . WORKED JUST FINE ONE DAY AND A FEW DAYS LATTER WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL . PLEASE REPAIR THIS IT IS A VITAL TOOL AROUND THE FIREHOUSE . IT HELPS YOU FIND A QUIET PLACE AROUND A BUNCH OF LOUD FIREMEN. The ipod won’t turn on anymore and it says I have to go to “apple.com/support/ipod”. Also, it wont connect onto any computers. My ipod fell from a desk on its back metal part and it froze up. i tried to reset my ipod and when the screen went blank it never came back on. i then tried to plug it up to see if it need to be charged because of the blow it experienced and it never came on. i then shook it and heard something rattling in the inside. Ipod simply no longer powers on. to my knowledge, it suffered no trauma… It was on a clock radio adapter, worked on day, the next, the screen might flash a bit, but doesn’t power up.
When the iPod is powered on the screen lights up but is entirely blank. Last I checked I was able to play items. At present it is not recognized by my computer but it is possible that the battery is too dead to register. I am sending an 30GB iPod Classic. It no longer has sound… I believe it is the headphone jack. Please let me know if it can be repaired. battery went dead i recharged it and it lasted only a day and now it won’t power up. Seems to everything but has no sound? The ipod fails to play and the screen does not light up. Initially, the screen would light for a fraction of a second a few seconds after pushing the center button, but now — nothing. The ipod was exposed to a single drop of water — literally a single drop — about a week before it failed. The drop fell just below the wheel on the front of the unit. I thought I dried it up without any penetration into the unit, but, who knows? 1st i was using a car charger & radio transmitter signal for over 2 years. then ipod started heating pretty bad suddendly it stop working and started clicking hard now it wont start. i had trouble with syncing my ipod to my itunes. i also had problems with the program locking up. but the last time i tried to charge my ipod i plugged it in and when i came back to it ten minutes later it was super hot and i can’t get it to do anything after that i was charging it on a car charger. Screen has funny appearance. Clicking sound when trying to turn on. Wont turn on. Been working good until it locked up. Tried to reset and hard reset with no uccess. iPod Classic–simply stopped turning on one day. It worked fine until then. I tried charging it–no response. Audio only comes out of the left side of any pair of headphones attached to the device. ipod is otherwise fine–it syncs and plays music when it is connected to the ihome.
This iPhone has been cracked and dropped in water as well. There is no insurance on it and I would like to be able to return it to the Apple Store for a new iPhone. The only stipulation that Apple makes is that the iPhone cannot be opened to make any repairs prior to the exchange for the new iPhone so please make all attempts at the data recovery without opening. I do understand about the battery issue without you being able to replace the battery as well. I would like to recover all data if at all possible especially Notes and Contacts. Power button is not working stuck on a loading screen. I am sending a 1st Gen iPod Touch 16GB that has two problems: a) The battery will not charge past ~15%. b) The backlight will not come on, although the LCD display appears to be working fine (just very dark). I am hoping that a new battery will solve this backlight problem. Please let me know what is wrong with the iPod Touch. My preference would be to replace the battery and see if that fixes the backlight problem. My phone was in my pocket and got wet when I was splashed with water. It worked fine for another day or so and then turned off. I dried it out with desicant and a blow drier. It now lights up with the Apple symbol when plugged into my computer or lights up to an emergency call screen if I plug it into the wall. I went to the ATT store and discovered that they have no interest in repairing or replacing phones. I bought a cheap phone and had them put my sim card in it. I have read a lot of good things about your company. If nothing else can be accomplished I would like to save the information from my phone. iPod Touch 4th Gen was dropped in a glass of milk. iPod was left to dry for 1 week. Battery drained to nothing. Charged iPod, connected to computer, powered on, white screen. Ipod touch second generation gets full charge and then starts losing 20 percent of battery power after an hour. Needs new battery. The backplate is also scratched and has little cracks and needs to be replaced. Hi, The problem with my iphone is that it rarely is able to make or recieve calls and when it works I’ll only be able to see 1 lit bar instead of 3 4 or 5. Once you put in a working SIM card you’ll see what I mean by my phone’s poor reception. The iPod Touch fell a couple of feet to the concrete. The glass screen is cracked. The only thing holding the glass in place is the screen protector. At the point of impact the black gasket is cracked. It worked properly after impact as the crack went unoticed for a short time. A short time later it locked up. The LCD display now reads iPod is disabled try again in 18421841956 minutes. iPod Touch – 32GB – 4th Generation…dropped in Pool.
My daughter left her Ipod Nano touch in a pocket. It went through the HE clothes washer and dryer. I found it clanking around in the dryer. Now we cannot turn down the sound or turn the device off. We contacted you and put the item in rice for many weeks but it still doesn’t work. Please let us know if it can be fixed or is a total loss. This device is actually a nano 4 but we are no longer doing batteries or evaluations for this device but this is an exception. Unit will not turn on. It will come on when hooked to dock. The battery isnt holding a charge anymore. It can be fully charged and after a week of no use it is almost dead. 16GB purple Nano Gen 4 which has hardly been used.. and that may be the problem. Unit sits for months without use and battery probably discharged. Would not take a charge when I plugged it in the other day. Left plugged in overnight and unit remains unresponsive. Are there any larger capacity batteries for this unit? Replace battery please. The iPod was stored for over a year and the batter no longer holds a charge. Everything else works perfectly as far as I am aware. Will only pwer on with computer or docking station. everything else is fine. Dead battery. The device turns on when plugged in but will not once unplugged from a power source…pretty sure the battery needs replacment.
