My 2nd gen i-touch would freeze up. I sent it to get fixed and was told that it was the digitizer. I bought a digitizer and put it in. After I put it back together it still freezes up. This is my 16yo daughters unit. I think a boy was trying to impress her by doing something they call “Jail Break” to it. Now when it turns on it goes to a screen with a picture of a cd and usb plug and it says to update. and wont do anything at that point. when I plug it in her computer it say to type passcode but there is no way to type in the passcode. the code was 9224. I understand all data will be lost. If this unit can be restored to a new default that would be great. The headphone jack only works on one side, so I think it needs to be replaced. The charging port will not allow syncing or charging of any kind. Device was being charged and playing, device was pulled off of couch onto floor. The device worked until the battery went dead and we were no longer able to charge the unit. Other than that it worked perfectly. The screen is cracked not the LCD screen. I attempted to replace the screen. I failed. I am shipping the new screen which is cracked due to my attempt to close the ipod. I just want the screen put in. Even if the image on the screen is distorted. Please attempt to fix the digitizer if possible otherwise it is fine if the image is not normal as long as the ipod boots and functions. If needed you can restore the ipod. Overall I just want the screen to look flush and in place and mildly functional. Also could you double check that I put in all the screws in the proper place. As I was trying to pick it up, it accidently slipped out of my hand and hit the wall hard. My son sat on his ipod touch and cracked the screen. It is functioning normally, hasnt had any problems with use since cracking it. Battery needs replaced in addition to the obvious.
IPod was left in bathroom during steamy shower, did not get immersed but was exposed to moisture and has a broken screen. It works fine but has no backlight anymore. There are two in this package – one with a cracked screen (recently dropped on tile floor, but no other problems), and one with a white screen. That one was left outside in the rain and then knocked into a cement wall. It functions well otherwise. The button no longer works. everything else is in working order. Can not get to turn back on. Last time I saw it actually working was when our 9 month old daughter was playing with it on the floor. She may have had parts of it in her mouth as I noticed it was a little wet in some areas. Tried to charge and that didn’t work. My Ipod touch on a full charge only last a 1-2 hrs. I think the battery need to be replaced. The third generation won’t restore in itunes and only turns on in the restore process for about 1 minute. If you look on the back, there is a very small dent. Apparently my husband crushed it when he moved his car seat. The second generation has an issue with the headphone. Only the right headphone works unless you wiggle the input prong around. Will not power up. Can not charge or unit not recognized by ITunes. I jailbroke my ipod touch touch and a few weeks ago i went to go pick it up and it wouldnt even turn on. I’ve tried rebooting it, resetting it but nothing will work. If my ipod is able to be restored, the headphone jack is loose, it only plays through one earphone. Also my side volume buttons and the top sleep button are pushed in and are hard to use. I would like to know if those could be repaired or replaced. Depending on the cost of what i listed above is to fix it, the glass screen is a little cracked but not badly, i may want that to be repaired. I am sending parts to an iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32 GB included as such: a digitizer, an LCD screen and the iPod itself.
I attempted to replace the battery myself, and tore the connecting cord.
All I really want to know is if in my attempt to solder the battery I damaged the circuit board. If it cannot be repaired I encourage you to keep it for spare parts; if it CAN be repaired I’d like to know what the cost of that would be. Email or call me, a response would be greatly appreciated. After rebooting the ipod it would not stay on and now it won’t even stay on.
My ipod is very difficult to turn on, I have to hold the button just right or it will not start. The ipod touch fell into water. Since then, the battery loses power very quickly and the wifi will not work at all. When the power is gone it loses all info and after recharging the battery I have to completely synch it again. After the synch, everything works, except the wifi. Battery does not hold charge – may have been exposed to water. Device began to freeze, then shut off, unable to get it back on..device is jailbroken..does not power up now. iPod will not turn on. It has not been exposed to anything or dropped. It just will not charge or turn on when plugged in. iPod is locked in recovery mode. Unable to restore, gives Error 6 on attempt. DFU mode also unsuccessful. Apple Store Genius Bar unable to help. Was not dropped or exposed to liquids. The battery won’t charge. 2nd Gen Ipod Nano – Scroll wheel not functioning correctly, will no longer play the songs, sometimes continuously runs through all the songs as if the forward button is stuck. Never been exposed to any type of moisture. 3rd Gen IPod Touch – Centre row of icons on the touch screen stopped working, then shortly after the whole touch screen stopped working. Unfortunately the IPod Touch has been dropped since and now the back plate is damaged at the charge port and does not appear to be connecting when plugged in. Never been exposed to any type of moisture. The sound quit working – external speakers and headphones. When I try to play music it is very crackly. This happened when another plug was put in the headphone jack (it was a backup camera jack). Also, have noticed it becoming extremely hot when it is charging. The screen has also been freezing periodically. Screen touch doesn’t register and it is very slow to boot up.
The ipod touch got dropped on the floor and since the screen is unresponsive, I can no longer test for wireless, bluetooth, etc. The device seems to have a bad charging port. The charging cord can be wiggled and the device will start to charge but as soon as the device is placed down the charging stops. Please check the battery also the device has not been used for some time. We are not sure if there is a passcode the device has not been used in over a year. Tried to open it to change battery now it won’t turn on. It has no ribbon cable (gold wire). Has lines through the LCD screen. Device was new-in-box and opened recently. It would not charge nor turn on when connected to a computer, so I put it into recovery mode, but every time I try to use the latest version of iTunes on Snow Leopard to do the recovery. I am hoping the problem is just the battery, so then you could sell me a new one and install it for me. The device has never had any data on it, and never experienced any trauma or liquid. Tried to replace charging port but did not know port was sautered to board so I am sending a port with phone, also when I took apart messed up the clips for the digitizer sceen and seal so I need one of these and also when I put back together did not turn on. besides these items it worked well. Slide to unlock does not work, debris under glass, power button sticks. ipod was urinated on by pet. Tried to let it drain/dry. Now will not turn on. Itouch had been dropped, which shattered the glass. Purchased a new lcd/digitizer/screen. Installed, screen wont stick and stay, and connection seems weak, as the screen flickers etc. The LCD is functioning fine, but the glass and digitizer are both broken. The headphone jack seems to be non-functioning as well, as no sound is able to be heard through any set of earphones. The connection where the USB cable connects is broken. Cannot connect to PC or charge device. Otherwise works fine.
Has water damage. Unit will not turn on despite charging and attempting a reset. When plugged into the computer it does not recognize it in iTunes. if the data can be saved great – if not that’s fine also. DEVICE DOESN’T TURN ON. The screen has been cracked for a year but has not caused it to malfunction at all. one day last week the ipod just stopped working, no power at all. tried to restore device, tried to push Home and Power together to restart. Itunes will not recognize device. does not show in My Computer. seems like the battery is dead (?) or the hard drive. i can not get it to show any power or charge at all. i do not want the screen replaced unless it is necessary for the ipod to function. i tried to use the discount code for free international return shipping but the website would not accept the coupon code. it would only accept regular shipping code. can you refund the difference please? My ipod touch was working fine but it kept turning off and then back on while I was using it. I read that the fix for this was to clear the ipod and restore it to original factory settings. I was able to clear the contents using the factory instructions however now itunes doesnt recognize the device so I tried holding the power button on while plugging it into the computer to restore it that way. This works but I can not get the ipod to stay on long enough for the restore to complete. I have tried numerous times and have gotten the network connection error numerous times. Also, the device now will power on but I have to hold the top button and the home button simultaneously to get it to turn off. When you turn it on it goes to the apple screen and that is where it stays. My ipod was dropped on the sidewalk, the screen is cracked. b4 dropping, the earphone jack would not work sometimes. I’m not sure what generation this is. My daughter broke the glass on her ipod. Please fix it. I cracked my original screen when i t fell out my pocket. I purchase a new screen and my husband try place in my ipod touch 4th gen and got white screen. He tried also to reset it as well. New screen will not fit proper because of den on my back panel. Could please replace that, I would really appreciate it and pay for it as well. The slide on the main part of the screen does not work it comes up but when you slide your finger accross, nothing happens. The ITouch is not recognized on the computer via usb cable or on a docking speakers. It is not recognized on Itunes and is dead. Son tried to fix the backlight himself, couldn’t, and in addition broke the LED screen.
Screen is extremely dim and has been cracked. After i plugged it in to charge it (with wall charger),, screen went black and would never come back on. will not power up when i plug into computer or wall charger. The “touch” screen doesn’t work, it only works when it’s docked and you use the remote to play the music. Old but still a work horse! If it’s at point of diminishing return and not worth repairing, need to know that too.1st gen iPod Touch 32GB. Two issues: Issue 1 – diminishing charge life (no surprise, original battery). Issue 2 – even with full charge, system randomly shuts off & I need to re-boot. Happens fairly often. Needs evaluation and does not power up. Needs new battery only. The device was dropped in a small stream and was submerged for several seconds in about 2 inches of water. Screen was cracked subsequent to drop when unit was opened to try and remove excess moisure. No other trauma. My itouch is consistantly freezing up and I have to hold down the power and clicker buttons to restart it. If you start playing music, it freezes up, if your playing a game, it freezes up. The only time the itouch can be fully functional is when it is plugged into my car charger. Even just being plugged into the wall adapter it still freezes up. Battery doesn’t hold or take charge. Connection to computer won’t hold, dropping out every minute or so. Even if I manage to get a charge, it’ll die out quickly. Because of connection dropping out, can’t do a significant sync. Fell in water. I can only hear in one ear half the time I use it.. and lately i havent been able to charge it on a computer, only with my car charger i can charge it on.. Please help and fix this.
The glass is cracked and it is possible on moisture exposure. I cannot get a clean answer on that. power button does not work, corosion on the inside, rigth side of touch screen does not respond. Device was dropped on the sidewalk and the screen cracked. The screen has shorted out due to water damage. It still plays music and everything (photos, music, etc) could be seen and moved when plugged into iTunes. It works fine the screen just doesn’t work. 1) Device was working perfectly until I did the software update pushed by iTunes. Now the device will not sync and will not restore. I tried all of the recommended troubleshooting steps on apple.com; to no avail. 2) Volume button on left side of the device works but is not aligned properly. I sent my ipod in for warranty but they mailed it back to me and said there was water damage. I was never aware of any water damage to it. You can only turn it on if you plug it in the computer or put it on a ipod player. Once I get it on you cant power it off or adjust the volume. I bought this on ebay – seller does not know how got malfunctioning. when plugged in to wall or other non-computer charge source will wake & show plug into itunes msg – but does not stay charged after removal no matter how long plugged in. when I connect it to computer via usb, it does nothing and does not even wake & computer does not recognize it is there. iPod doesn’t power on. The Customer that dropped it off suggested it was a worn out battery as he had seen the battery life slowly drop to nearly nothing. water damaged not turning on. The touch screen will not work. The battery is also very weak. Please email me at cplauche1@Mac.com for passcode. It is my daughters iPod and at the moment I can’t remember it but by the time you email me I will have gotten it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
On the I-touch the screen lights up for several minutes then goes off however you still can see the items on the screen. My son drop the i touch on a raining day on a water pot. Please check the battery – it’s been about a year plus. If the charge doesn’t hold please replace and add to my bill. As for the Ipod it has a new battery however the liquid screen is damage and it doesn’t work properly. My cell phone number is my best option for contact or email. I will ship the items tomorrow morning. replace LCD – device did have sprite spilled on it. This Ipod was dropped by my child and the screen is badly cracked. If you hit the power button to turn it on its stuck on the screen showing a plug in and Itunes icon at the top Before it was dropped I was having no issues with my Ipod. IPOD BELONGS TO TEEN DAUGHTER SHE SAYS IT WAS NOT DROPPED OR GOTTEN WET UNIT IS ON WILL NOT TURN OFF TOUCH SCREEN DOES NOT WORK. I have had this iPod for about 4 years so I am not sure what could be wrong with it. The back cover is scratched up and the WIFI cover is gone. But the real problem is the battery. The iPod will load the Apple logo then turn off most times. The times that it doesn’t turn off after the logo it shows a Connect to iTunes symbol and when you do that iTunes says you have to Restore the iPod . I click Yes and then an error occurs saying the iPod can’t be restored. The second you take the iPod off charge it dies. When it was working the home button would sometimes not work no matter how hard you press but then all of a sudden it would work fine. I can’t test this because the iPod won’t load up. It is possible it could have water damage and I have dropped it a couple times in the last 4 years. Please do anything you can. My only problem is really concerning with the USB port on my iPod touch. Whenever I plug in the cord from my computer to the iPod I have to apply a downward force on the cord connected to the iPod for a connection to be made with the computer. If I do not apply a downward force then the iPod will act as if it’s not connected at all. Also I think something is wrong with my headphone jack as sometimes when I play music it cuts in and out throughout the song randomly when I the iPod. If you could look further into the headphone jack that would be greatly appreciated as I have not used my iPod touch in quite some time. No true traumatic damages have been done on this iPod besides some scratches in the screen. Touch screen not working and glass is cracked. Unit does powers-up but does not let you use the slide bar to go to he home page. the ipod touch doesnt power up first. Device randomly shuts down and won’t restart if moved too much. Having been idle too long indicates battery low. Also does not sync well with PC anymore. Evaluate device customer has reported low battery power retention issues.
When you recieve my ipod you will notice it has a huge cracks in the screen that is the first problem. The second problem is that the jack where I put my earphones is messed up. I thought it was just the earphones that I were using but when I hook them up to any other device they work perfectly. Whem I put them in one of the headphones starts cracking untill I jiggle it for a minute and it works for a couple of minutes but the slightest movement messes them up again. Those are the only two problems I have with my Ipod. Other than that my Ipod touch is working perfectly! The lcd screen on the ipod touch has no backlight. I do not know why this has happened but if it needs to be replaced please go ahead and replace it. The customer with the 5th generation ipod video mentioned that the headphone jack started to stop producing sound out of one ear or the other when movement was applied to the jack. not recognized when plugged into macBook. Will not charge. battery shows empty. will not restart and only shows the apple logo after re-set (hold button and center button depressed together) may need a new battery. I communicated with Wes D. about getting the charging port replaced. He assured me that, even though you don’t do it in house, you can get it replaced for me. I have had this ipod touch for several years and the port seems to have just worn out on me. When I connect to charge or try to sync, I’ve had to do a lot of jiggling to get it to register. I appreciate whatever you can do to help me and in advance. the iPod touch 1 st generation is about 3 years old. the button is dusty, and only works sporadically if I blow it out with keyboard spray. this is before my son spilled water on the device. it had enough water in it that it poured out of the charging hole. I dried the i pod by shaking it out until no more water came out then I allowed it to dry on my car dashboard in the sun for about one week. I can get it to turn on and function but it will not hold a charge for more than 2 hours. and it will not get more than 3/4 charged even if I leave it plugged in continuously. the device still connects to the computer but the LCD will not display any images. My U2 Ipod is the video version. It has scratches arcross the front that do not affect the LCD but are unpleasent to look at. The Click wheel is unscathed and responsive. The battery doesn’t seem to hold a charge as well as it used too. On occasion You must press the middle and the play button on the click wheel to get it to turn on. Every computer it’s plugged into first asks if I would like the device cleaned or scanned. It did not do this when I first got it, but I have always said no in fear of losing all the music I have on it. Music is manually managed. If you need anymore information about it just shoot me an email or give me a call. Your page gives a link for faceplate repair but the link is a dead end. I would like the faceplate replaced if you still offer that service. Please send it as soon as possible.
